Beginners Beekeeping Course 2026 OPEN for Bookings


 

The next Reigate Beekeepers 

‘Introduction to Beekeeping Course’

commences on 12th January 2026

  

We will kick off the course with an introductory meeting at our Training Apiary near Dorking on Saturday 10th January 2026.

♦ The first of the 10 Classroom sessions, at the Woodhatch Centre in Reigate, will start at 7:30pm on Monday 12th January and sessions continue each Monday (excluding 16th February) through to the 23rd March 2026.

♦ This course is typically oversubscribed, so early booking is advised.

The ‘Introduction to Beekeeping Course’ fee of £195 includes:

Training meeting at Henfold apiary

Practical training meeting at the apiary

  • An Introductory session on Saturday January 10th, from 10:00am – 12:00 noon at our Training Apiary between Dorking & Newdigate (directions will be provided).
  • Ten classroom sessions on Monday Evenings, 7:30 to 9:30pm from 12th January to 23th March (excluding 16th February) at The Woodhatch Centre, Reigate RH2 7LS.
    • Course Tutor – David Rudland.
    • Course Notes provided.
    • A copy of the Haynes Beekeeping Manual provided.
    • RBKA Certificate presented upon completion.
  • Four Weekly Practical Training Sessions – in small groups at our Training Apiary commencing during the second week of Apri: either the evening (from 6pm) of Wednesday 15th or the afternoon (from 1pm) of Saturday 18th. (Dates, days and times subject to weather conditions. Default and ongoing Summer weekly meetings will be Wednesday Evenings)
    • Supervised at all times by qualified and experienced beekeepers.
    • Full length Bee Suit loaned for hive inspections, bring your own Wellington boots.
    • A gift of a Jar of our Honey upon your first practical session visit to the apiary.
  • Course attendees limited to 25.
  • No prior experience of Beekeeping is required.
  • Upon completion of the included Practical Sessions, you will be able to continue gaining practical experience with us by becoming a Member of the Reigate Beekeepers Division of the Surrey Beekeepers Association

Should you need to cancel a booked and paid for place on the course: 

  • Providing your cancellation is at least 14 days in advance of the commencement of the course you will be offered a full refund.
  • Cancellations made within 14 days of the commencement of the course may not receive any refund if we have been unable to fill the vacant place created.
  • Some timings and dates may be subject to minor amendments due to weather conditions.
