Reigate Beekeepers were delighted to welcome the Reigate & Banstead Mayor, Councillor Nick Harrison, to our training apiary on 5 August.

The Mayor was keen to find out more about our club, our bees and the important work our volunteers do in the local community. His visit followed our swarm collection team receiving an award in recognition of their exceptional volunteer work helping remove bees safely in the area.

He joined us on our regular Wednesday club night, where he said a few words to our members, having gamely donned a bee suit.

The Mayor then got hands-on with the bees, joining a couple of our mentors at the hives and getting a taste of what beekeeping is all about!
